Downtown Dreaming: Interactive Workshop

On October 8, our team hosted the first of three planned community meetings, and wow what an amazing evening it was! The event took place at the historic Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center in the East End, where we welcomed more than 250 guests from across Lexington. We enjoyed delicious tacos, great conversations, and the beautiful Lyric courtyard.

Throughout the evening, guests explored interactive stations focused on key topics like housing, transportation, and downtown development. They shared their “dreams” for downtown Lexington, took photos at our photo booth, and even created dream boards to visualize what they’d like to see in the city’s future.

Here’s what we heard most often from participants:

  • A need for more affordable housing

  • Interest in a food hall or public market

  • A desire for more green spaces

  • Everyday retail options (especially a grocery store)

A huge thank you to the Lyric Theatre for hosting us and to Nathan’s Tacos for bringing their fantastic food truck!

We’re thrilled with how the evening turned out and grateful for all the thoughtful feedback from our community. Your voices are helping shape the future of Downtown Lexington and we can’t wait to continue the conversation at our next meeting!
