Phoenix Park Ribbon Cutting
On September 18, our team was thrilled to join the community for the grand opening of Phoenix Park! The celebration featured live music, ice cream, and plenty of smiling residents, not to mention a few happy pups enjoying the new dog park!
We had the opportunity to engage with more than 50 community members, many of whom were LFUCG employees. During the event, we distributed surveys to learn what people want to see in Downtown Lexington.
Some of the most common themes we heard included:
The need for more affordable parking
A comprehensive plan to address homelessness
More activities and entertainment downtown
Better and more affordable dining and shopping options
Appreciation for our public spaces, paired with concerns about traffic and walkability
A desire for more family-friendly events
We were glad to see Mayor Gorton and our City Councilmembers speak about the park’s opening and the importance of creating vibrant public spaces.
A big thank-you to all the residents and LFUCG workers who stopped by, took our survey, and shared their thoughts on how to make downtown Lexington even better!
